Real Alloy in Post Falls, ID is looking for an EHS Specialist who is passionate about creating a safe workplace and committed to ensuring every employee and visitor goes home to their familes at the end of each day as healthy and safe as when they arrived. We are looking for an EHS Specialist who is willing to lead by example and drive a continuosly improving safety culture forward. In our aluminum recycling facility the stakes are high: heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and complex processes that demand someone sharp, proactive, and unwilling to cut corners. If you are the type who notices the potential risks around you, asks the hard questions during incident investigations, and can get buy-in from the front line as easily as from leadership, this role was built for you.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety or equivalent major
  • 3+ years experience in a health and safety role with demonstrated understanding of H&S principles and regulations
  • Strong persuasion and motivation skills, as well as the ability to work across all disciplines and employee levels
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to accurately write reports, communicate verbally with employees, provide constructive feedback, and maintain positive employee relations
  • Lift 25 pounds and walk the plant floor on a regular basis
  • Work variable hours depending on business needs, be on call for emergencies, and occasionally travel
  • Wear various types of PPE in hot/humid conditions; such as metatarsal safety shoes, safety hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and heat resistant garments
  • Hold and retain a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective corrective and preventative actions
  • Conduct workplace safety inspections, audits, and environmental compliance assessments
  • Lead incident investigations and determine root causes
  • Drives safety and environmental awareness, engagement, and improvement across all levels of the organization.
  • Reviews and maintains all environmental permits including but not limited to SARA Tier 1/Tier2 Inventory Report, TRI Report, NPDES DMR’s, Air Emission Reports, Waste Profile Renewals and landfill permit recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Monitor and improve emergency response action programs and preparedness
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements along with accurate recordkeeping
  • Managing site Worker's Compensation matters, first aid and CPR training, fit testing, and other safety/health program requirements
