About The Position

Pretium Packaging is seeking a hands-on Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support safety, compliance, and environmental programs within a dynamic manufacturing environment at their St. Charles, Illinois facility. This role involves partnering with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to ensure safe work practices, reduce risk, and strengthen the safety culture. The position offers the opportunity to lead safety initiatives, influence culture, and make a significant impact. Bilingual candidates fluent in Spanish are preferred.

Requirements

2+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance.
Experience investigating incidents and performing root cause analysis.
Ability to influence employees and leadership to drive safe work practices.
Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
Experience in plastics, injection molding, blow molding, or industrial manufacturing.
OSHA 30 Certification.
CHST, ASP, or other professional safety certification.
First Aid / CPR / AED certification.
Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently.

Responsibilities

Support and maintain the Pretium Packaging EHS program in compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across manufacturing operations.
Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
Maintain OSHA logs, safety documentation, and compliance records.
Report current/potential issues to plant leadership and provide potential solutions.
Support environmental programs including waste management, emissions, stormwater, and chemical handling.
Monitor hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and storage.
Assist with environmental inspections and regulatory reporting.
Deliver safety training including Lockout/Tagout, PPE and hazard communication, machine guarding, ergonomics, and emergency response.
Engage employees in safety initiatives, committees, and continuous improvement efforts.
Partner with operations to identify hazards associated with plastics processing equipment, robotics and automation, compressed air systems, and material handling and resins.
Support implementation of engineering and administrative safety controls.
Track safety metrics and support improvement initiatives.
Assist with emergency response planning including fire safety, evacuation procedures, spill response, and medical emergency coordination.
Support drills and emergency response teams.
