About The Position

At ADVICS Manufacturing Ohio, we are proud to manufacture advanced braking systems that save lives, improving safety and comfort in an environmentally responsible manner. The Safety Specialist protects Team Members, supports regulatory compliance, and helps prevent workplace injuries in the manufacturing environment. This role engages team members in safety requirements, problem-solving, and prevention, promotes open communication and safety awareness, reduces risk through assessments and the hierarchy of controls, maintains compliant policies, procedures, and records, and maintains a visible presence in daily operations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in environmental or safety science, a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to two years of safety experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and applicable state requirements.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Write, speak, listen, and present effectively.
  • Build productive cross-functional relationships.
  • Remove barriers, drive results, and improve processes.
  • Analyze data, identify causes, and recommend solutions.
  • Use sound judgment and available data.
  • Plan, prioritize, and complete work.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to five years of safety experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ISO management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local requirements; conduct inspections and correct hazards.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes and trends, and verify corrective actions.
  • Coordinate occupational health, ergonomics, security, and workers’ compensation resources and outcomes.
  • Deliver and document new-hire, process, powered industrial truck, and refresher training.
  • Assess manufacturing hazards and implement corrective and preventive controls.
  • Lead the Emergency Response Team; maintain plans and conduct drills for fires, spills, natural disasters, and other emergencies.
  • Promote safety awareness and maintain facility signage and communication boards.
  • Maintain incident, inspection, training, and compliance records and submit required reports.
  • Support ISO 14001 objectives, procedures, audits, corrective actions, training, and documentation.
  • Conduct routine workplace reviews, assign corrective actions, and verify effectiveness.
  • Work with production, maintenance, engineering, human resources, and other departments to resolve safety and environmental concerns.
  • Lead cross-functional incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Build accountability and leader ownership of the safety culture.
