About The Position

The EHS Specialist will support daily decommissioning operations while serving as an environmental compliance resource for the site. This role will assist with environmental programs, regulatory compliance, hazardous waste management, contractor oversight, inspections, training, and emergency response activities to ensure safe and compliant project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of EHS experience in industrial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, construction, or decommissioning environments.
  • 40 Hour HazWoper Required
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and NJ environmental regulations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs and ladders, and work throughout active industrial and decommissioning areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and respiratory protection when required.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental compliance programs, including RCRA, hazardous waste, medical waste, DOT hazardous materials transportation, spill prevention, and stormwater management.
  • Conduct inspections of waste accumulation areas and decommissioning activities.
  • Coordinate waste characterization, packaging, storage, transportation, and disposal.
  • Assist with environmental reporting, recordkeeping, permits, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Support contractor oversight, incident investigations, corrective actions, and emergency response activities.
  • Deliver or coordinate required environmental and safety training.
  • Participate in audits, compliance assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary to support the Environmental, Health & Safety Department.
