DESCRIPTION: As an EHS Specialist II at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will be responsible for ensuring workplace safety, environmental compliance, and employee wellbeing. You will develop, implement and maintain comprehensive EHS programs while serving as a trusted advisor to leadership and functional managers. Working collaboratively across departments, you will contribute to our commitment to safety through proactive risk management, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree with no prior experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of experience, preferably in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or laboratory environments
  • Strong knowledge of applicable EHS regulations, standards and best practices (OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001/45001)
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions
  • Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment
  • Knowledge in industrial hygiene monitoring, hazardous materials management, and emergency response
  • Ability to analyze EHS data and metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Strong project management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to work with all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS and chemical management systems
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across functions
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Must be able to conduct facility inspections and respond to emergencies, including some physical activity

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Fields of Study: Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Engineering)
  • Professional EHS certifications preferred (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM)
  • Additional language skills may be valued
