About The Position

The EHS Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring site compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, as well as Haleon’s internal environmental standards. This includes oversight of requirements related to air, water, soil, waste management, and sustainability across site operations and associated properties. This role is focused on proactively identifying and mitigating environmental risks by developing and recommending effective strategies to minimize exposure to hazardous conditions. The Environmental Specialist plays a critical role in protecting employees, the environment, and the company by maintaining compliance, promoting best practices, and supporting continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences, and/or Occupational Safety (or other related specialization)
  • Experience in managing EHS risks in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), Pharmaceutical or related high-hazard sector.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in the Environmental Field.
  • Knowledge in the use of Environmental tracking databases.
  • Good relationship building and networking, to engage effectively with site personnel, senior management, EHS and Regional leads.
  • This position requires knowledge of Safety and Environmental requirements and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience establishing programs to manage the site’s different EHS risks and impacts, coordinated within an overall EHS management system.
  • Experience reviewing change proposals (including capital projects and new product
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
  • Registered Environmental Manager (REM)
  • Any formal education around these requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure site compliance with all federal, state, local, and company environmental regulations across air, water, soil, waste, and sustainability.
  • Develop and implement programs to identify, assess, and control environmental risks and exposures.
  • Manage environmental compliance processes, including regulatory reporting, compliance calendars, and hazardous waste handling and disposal.
  • Partner with regulatory agencies and lead site inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Conduct and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain EHS policies, procedures, KPIs, and training programs aligned with company strategy.
  • Monitor EHS performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support change management by reviewing projects and new processes for EHS risks and ensuring safe implementation.
  • Collaborate with global teams to share best practices and strengthen overall EHS performance.
