About The Position

The Site Health, Safety and Security (HS&S) Specialist is responsible for leading the site’s health, safety, emergency response and security efforts by implementing and maintaining HS&S compliance management systems—including work processes, standards, and procedures—to achieve Environmental Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) performance objectives and sustain the site’s license to operate. This role is leveraged across all workgroups on the Midland site and Corteva Michigan Office and Health Center (CMOHC).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience, knowledge and skills in a manufacturing / industrial environment, and EHS&S competencies
  • Fluent in English
  • Willing to travel 10-20% in support of corporate auditing needs

Responsibilities

  • Ensure appropriate, consistent implementation and maintenance of EHS&S work processes, best practices and most effective technologies.
  • Coordinate and align priorities and initiatives across the site.
  • Audit the effectiveness of work processes and their implementation.
  • Analyze performance data for trends and identify opportunities for improvement across the site.
  • Act as the site focal point for Security and Emergency Response coordination, training, and execution for Corteva in partnership with all Industrial Park tenants and local Emergency Responding agencies
  • Align personal and team EHS&S objectives with the hub and site functional strategies and priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with EHS&S Leadership to ensure plans are well communicated and supported.
  • Assist EHS&S Site Leader with providing Industrial Hygiene (IH), health, safety, emergency response, security, motor vehicle leadership, support and expertise to the site in a manner that is compatible with local issues and culture.
  • Measure site performance against goals, client expectations and work with Site Leader to develop improvement plans.
  • Acts as a site focal point for Health, Safety, Emergency Response and Security disciplines
  • Partner with Operations / R&D to leverage resources in order to drive EHS&S performance by utilizing all available H&S tools and work processes.
  • Coaches teams and individuals on HS&S related tasks / activities and acts as the site resource for related HS&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.
  • Provides hands-on Industrial Hygiene (IH), health, safety, emergency response, security, motor vehicle EHS&S work process, standards and procedure assistance for assigned site(s) as indicated.
  • Analyze and evaluate site EHS&S performance to identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Supports site compliance with Corporate EHS&S Standards and Governmental Regulatory Requirements.
  • Provide local input to Site Leadership for regulatory strategies and advocacy.
  • Supports site self-assessment, audit, and regulatory compliance corrective action completion & validation.
  • Facilitates the completion of all appropriate IH program, monitoring and health surveillance requirements.
  • Facilitates incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Support contractor companies with site EHS&S standards compliance.
  • Assist site responses to geographic and/or EHS&S / Emergency Response & Security (ER&S) issues (in concert with ER&S Team) and crises that affect operations consistent with site, business, and corporate "license to operate" requirements.
  • Owner of defined Corteva Agriscience Management Systems (CAMS) EHS&S elements for the site.
  • Implement, utilize, maintain and promote EHS&S management systems (CAMS).
  • Ensures minimization of local customization of EHS&S / ER&S management systems whenever possible and leads / champions management system reviews in order to drive continuous improvement.
  • Supports cost-effective delivery of EHS&S and ER&S systems.
  • Provide expertise and support for site environmental stewardship, waste management and remediation (where indicated).
  • Supports delivery of required EHS&S training.
  • Lead, support, participate in and/or provide data for EHS&S audits / assessments / compliance initiatives.
  • Collects, analyzes, calculates and inputs data for EHS&S reporting as necessary.
  • Is an active participant and advocate for performing field observations and safety interventions
  • Monitors EHS&S compliance tasks completion.
  • Initiates and/or supports Site Management of Change (MoC) for EHS&S matters as necessary.
  • Links to EHS&S Center of Expertise (CoE) to obtain clear interpretations on site-specific regulatory processes, regulations, laws and associated procedures.
  • As required, participates in the environmental, IH, health and safety related reviews and project support.
  • Aligns with Information Technology (IT) initiatives, updates, cyber security processes and tools.
