About The Position

We’re looking for a detail-oriented professional to join our team as Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)/Risk Manager. In this role, you will support the safe, compliant, and risk-aware operation of a high-uptime ride hailing/EV operations facility. You will oversee site-level environmental, health, safety, and operational risk programs across fleet operations, maintenance areas, charging infrastructure, cleaning operations, and general facility workflows. This role partners closely with operational leadership and cross-functional teams to identify hazards, assess operational risk, monitor compliance, investigate incidents, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in EHS, safety, risk, compliance, fleet operations, logistics, transportation, warehouse, industrial, or similar environments.
  • Ability to work on-site at our San Diego location 5 days/week.
  • Experience leading safety programs in operational or field-based environments.
  • Experience leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA principles, workplace safety practices, and operational risk controls.
  • Experience with audits, inspections, compliance documentation, and performance reporting.
  • Ability to influence frontline teams and leaders without direct authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in transportation, ride hailing, mobility, EV fleet, automotive, or depot operations.
  • Experience supporting 24/7 shift-based operations.
  • Familiarity with charging infrastructure, vehicle service environments, cleaning chemical controls, and contractor safety.
  • Professional certification such as OSHA, ASP, CSP, CHST, or similar is a plus.
  • Experience supporting site launch, process rollout, or rapid operational scaling.
  • Background in continuous improvement, Lean, or structured problem-solving methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company safety requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments for operational workflows, equipment use, vehicle movement, charging operations, maintenance activity, cleaning chemicals, ergonomics, and contractor activity.
  • Lead or support investigations related to injuries, near misses, vehicle damage, facility incidents, environmental events, and other operational safety concerns.
  • Work closely with the City Manager and Implementation Project Supervisor to ensure safety expectations are embedded into daily operations and new process implementation.
  • Maintain accurate EHS documentation, including inspections, investigations, training records, corrective action plans, and regulatory logs as required.
  • Track key performance indicators related to safety, risk, incident frequency, compliance completion, and corrective action closure.
  • Oversee delivery and reinforcement of safety orientation, toolbox talks, refresher training, and role-specific safety communication.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture focused on hazard recognition, reporting, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as Element on-site POC for EHS 3rd party partner.
