About The Position

Morgan Foods, Inc. (MFI) is seeking an EHS Manager. The EHS Manager leads a 4-person team and is responsible for planning, implementing, and sustaining a comprehensive enterprise level Environmental, Health, and Safety program that protects our people, communities, and operating license across Morgan Foods’ manufacturing operations. This role serves as the primary on-site EHS leader for the Austin, IN facility (est. 700 employees), while providing strategic and general EHS oversight to the Saline, MI aseptic facility (est. 200 employees). Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferably in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related discipline. Relevant combination of education and directly applicable experience may be considered.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive EHS experience, with minimum 4 years EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Outreach Training (or equivalent) required.
RCRA, DOT, and HazMat training certifications required.
Class C (or higher) Wastewater Plant Operator certification required or able to attain within first year of hire.
Business Continuity Planning (BCP) certification required or ability to attain within first year of hire.
CPR/AED certification required.
Comprehensive knowledge of federal and Indiana & Michigan state EHS regulations, OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910), and environmental permit requirements.
Demonstrated experience managing regulatory agency relationships (OSHA, IDEM, USEPA, and/or equivalent state agencies).
Experience interpreting complex regulatory requirements and translating them into practical operational programs.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) at an intermediate to advanced level.
Excellent analytical skills, with strong ability to analyze and interpret data and statistics.
Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines.
Person-centered, highly collaborative work style required.
Ability to read, write, and understand English language documents, including but not limited to work instructions and safety/environmental rules, standards, laws, and regulations.

Nice To Haves

Food manufacturing or food processing experience in multi-site corporate environment.
Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification preferred; Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
EMT-Basic (EMS-B) designation preferred.
Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is preferred.
Prior experience with wastewater operations, permitting, or environmental compliance is highly desirable.
Experience with EHS management systems (e.g., Intelex) preferred.

Responsibilities

(Austin, IN) Oversee all aspects of the on-site Wastewater Treatment Plant, including managing 2 WWTP staff members, prepare and submission of all required IDEM, USAPA, & DNR reporting
Manage all facility waste streams (solid and hazardous); maintain manifests, shipment logs, and waste management records; coordinate timely removal with licensed vendors.
Prepare and submit environmental permit applications and renewals on schedule; maintain current versions of the SPCC Plan, Environmental Management Plan, Stormwater Management Plan, Waste Management SOP, Potable Water Program Plan, and Spill Response Plan.
Chair the Chemical Review Committees; ensure quarterly meeting cadence, thorough review of all new chemical introductions, and accurate SDS library maintenance.
Is a Champion of Health & Safety – working across the organization in support of employee and work environment safety.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve the organization’s EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Lead accident and near-miss investigations to root cause; implement corrective and preventive actions; track and trend incident data to identify systemic risks and measure improvement over time.
Conduct and coordinate regular facility inspections and behavioral safety observations to identify hazards, drive timely, sustainable corrective actions, and report findings to leadership.
Develop, deliver, coordinate comprehensive safety training programs covering all required topics, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, powered industrial lifts (forklift), electrical safety, personal protective equipment, confined space entry, fall protection, fire prevention, emergency evacuation, and hazardous materials handling.
Manage contractor and vendor safety compliance, including chemical approval process, equipment certifications, job hazard analysis reviews, and on-site safety orientation.
Serve as the primary liaison to OSHA, and external safety consultants; represent Morgan Foods professionally during audits and inspections.
Maintain current safety reference resources, professional certifications, and regulatory knowledge; participate in professional organizations and industry peer networks.
Establish, coordinate and lead periodic joint facility EHS reviews, incident debriefs, and best-practice sharing sessions across both sites.
Serve as a primary resource during regulatory inspections, audit preparations, or incident responses at Saline when requested.
Carries out all role activities utilizing a continuous improvement approach and participates in all continuous improvement initiatives, including acquiring certifications in Lean Six Sigma as needed or required.
