This role is responsible for Environmental, Health & Safety Management, ensuring EHS control plans are implemented, managing IMS, developing documentation for energy management, analyzing incidents, acting as an Internal Auditor for ISO 14001, evaluating working conditions, ensuring legal reporting, approving new chemicals, coordinating emergency preparedness, managing safety audits, sourcing personal protective equipment, ensuring fire prevention compliance, organizing EHS inductions, participating in employee representative meetings and EHS committees, identifying and mitigating risks, and training employees and subcontractors on EHS rules and standards.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent education, ideally majoring in EHS.
  • Minimum three years of experience in EHS, industrial, or technical environments.
  • Good command of English, EHS local regulations, ISO 14001/45001, and environmental standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and influence others.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures EHS control plan is fully implemented (training, maintenance, sampling, monitoring).
  • Ensures the establishment, implementation, maintenance and effective operation of the Environmental IMS, and ensures that system requirements are communicated, followed, and maintained.
  • Develops, contributes to, communicates, and maintains documentation supporting the energy management system and the action plan defined by the Energy Champion.
  • Analyses accidents, incidents and occupational illnesses to define action plans with management.
  • Acts as Internal Auditor for the ISO 14001 program.
  • Evaluates working conditions and site conformity to legislation. Advises plant management in case of non‑conformance in environmental, safety or working conditions. Proposes improvements.
  • Ensures all required Corporate, Divisional and legal reporting is performed on time. Analyses data and recommends actions. Ensures liaison with external bodies (insurance companies, local legal entities).
  • Has authority to approve new chemicals for use in the plant and ensures proper management.
  • Holds the authority and responsibility to stop any process that endangers personnel safety or health, creates significant environmental impact, or affects product quality, ensuring IMS procedures are followed.
  • Coordinates emergency preparedness activities and participates in response and coordination committees during emergencies.
  • Manages safety audits and the Top Safety Observation program.
  • Together with management and MRO buyer, sources and validates appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ensures site compliance with insurance requirements regarding fire prevention and protection and reports progress to local management.
  • Ensures EHS induction procedures are properly organized.
  • Participates with the Plant Director in employee representative meetings and EHS committees.
  • Helps identify unsafe conditions and environmental risks, recommends action plans, and follows up on implementation.
  • Trains all new employees (including temporary workers) on EHS rules and standards.
  • Works with subcontractors and maintenance teams to establish prevention plans and closely follows work in progress.
