About The Position

The EHS Manager will supervise and coordinate the plant safety and health function in accordance with Corporate and plant directives to prevent accidents and to ensure compliance with OSHA and all related federal, state, and local regulations. Ensure all safety processes and procedures are followed within areas of responsibility. Take necessary action to minimize delay time and maximize production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or 3–5 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Solid mathematical aptitude, including the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including the ability to define issues, gather and analyze data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage both abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong safety practices every day by maintaining excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Exercise maximum care to protect the environment by fostering and supporting responsible operating procedures.
  • Supervise the safety function to ensure a safe work environment is maintained and that practices comply with all Company and government-issued regulations. Recommend corrective action where necessary.
  • Conduct safety inspections and environmental testing regularly. Record and report findings and recommend corrective action where necessary. Complete and submit necessary governmental reports.
  • Investigate, analyze, and recommend corrective action for accidents or near-misses. Ensure the timely completion of any accident reporting.
  • Supervise and coordinate the first aid function and Workers' Compensation program. Coordinate communications with all parties involved and maintain related records. Manage return to work and light-duty programs to facilitate the safest and quickest possible return to work.
  • Coordinate all governmental agency communications, contacts, and visits regarding safety and the environment.
  • Ensure that all personnel are provided with appropriate safety training by initiating, implementing, and monitoring safety training programs. This includes safety orientation for new hires.
  • Maintain and monitor safety equipment to support the continuous operation of the plant. Maintain related inventory records as required. Monitor and ensure proper use of personal protective safety equipment to maximize protection and reduce costs.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of written safety policies and procedures for plant personnel.
  • Coordinate periodic medical examinations of personnel in accordance with Company policy and government regulations. Maintain a variety of documents concerning employee safety and health records.
  • Develop and maintain a safety awareness and communication program.
  • Work with corporate EHS regularly.
