About The Position

The EHS Manager is responsible for leading and implementing environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance programs for Interacid North America (ITNA) facilities in operation, and expansion and construction projects as the business grows. This role requires expertise in process safety, regulatory permitting, and construction EHS oversight, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining a strong safety culture.

  • 7–10+ years of EHS experience in chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, or hazardous materials environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with environmental permitting for capital projects or plant expansions.
  • Strong knowledge of: OSHA (General Industry & Construction), EPA regulations (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA), State DEP regulations or the ability to learn about state specific compliance obligations.
  • Process Safety Management (PSM)

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM).
  • Experience with large-scale capital projects ($10M+).
  • Familiarity with local and state permitting agencies and processes: Florida, Texas, Nevada, and California.
  • USCG regulations for Marine Terminals.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors and engineering firms.
  • Experience as a people leader preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute EHS strategies aligned with corporate goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership to ensure a proactive safety culture across construction and operational teams.
  • Serve as the primary EHS contact for capital expansion projects.
  • Lead EHS planning and execution for construction and expansion activities, including contractor safety management.
  • Conduct risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and enforce safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926).
  • Audit contractor safety programs and ensure adherence to site-specific EHS policies.
  • Manage all environmental permitting activities for ongoing operations and expansion projects, including but not limited to: Air permits (e.g., Title V, PSD) or notice of exemption, Water permits (NPDES, stormwater, SWPPP, Ground Water), Waste management permits (RCRA), SPCC, HMBP, New regs by state.
  • Coordinate permit applications, modifications, and renewals with regulatory agencies.
  • Interpret environmental regulations and ensure project designs meet compliance requirements.
  • Act as liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) for hazardous chemicals.
  • Participate in or lead: Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
  • Integrate process safety considerations into capital project design and execution.
  • Identify and evaluate environmental and safety risks associated with construction and operations.
  • Implement mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the HSI system.
  • Maintain the ITNA EHS Manual and deliver EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Ensure all personnel are trained in site-specific hazards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate EHS expectations to project teams and leadership.
  • Maintain compliance records, permits, and inspection reports.
  • Prepare regulatory submissions and reports (e.g., Tier II, TRI where applicable).
  • Track EHS KPIs and provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Supervise 1-2 direct reports who may have dotted line reporting to Terminal Managers.
