About The Position

The Bunge North America Safety Internship Program is seeking collaborative, results-oriented candidates with strong critical thinking and communication skills. The internship is designed to provide an understanding of how safety is driven at a company that values safety first and fosters a strong safety culture. During the internship, you will be exposed to various aspects of safety management and develop the skills and knowledge needed to build a strong foundation for a career in the safety field. Location to be determined based on current business needs, you would be placed at one of our crush/refine, packaging, or grain elevator facilities. Ability and willingness to relocate for the duration of the internship is required. The summer work term is approximately 12 weeks. Assignment location will be determined based on business requirements.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an Occupational Health and Safety Diploma or Certificate.
  • Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, adversity, and constant change.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in standard PC applications.
  • Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Support Bunge’s safety culture and continuous improvement efforts by participating in site-identified projects or initiatives.
  • Develop training material.
  • Update procedures, safe work instructions, and/or JHAs.
  • Conduct PPE and confined space hazard assessments, reviewing LOTO procedures, and reviewing completed permits.
  • Track and trend proactive and reactive metrics.
  • Conduct procedural gap analyses.
  • Conduct audits and develop reports with corrective actions.
  • Ability to travel to other Bunge facilities for development and/or assistance as requested.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of high potential exposures and conduct gap analysis.
  • Demonstrate your level of understanding by responding to verbal or written inquiries from supervisors, mentors, or the program manager.
  • Analyze data and develop reports.
  • Travel to other Bunge locations for training and exposure purposes.
  • Communicate effectively with Bunge internal and external customers.
