Reporting to the EHS manager, Provide technical and operational support to the EHS function by implementing and maintaining programs related to industrial hygiene, occupational safety, incident prevention, and regulatory compliance. Support key elements of the PSM system as needed to help ensure a safe and compliant operation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Chemical, Environmental, Process, or related field).
  • 1–3 years in EHS or Industrial Hygiene roles (preferred).
  • Experience conducting IH sampling or monitoring (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of occupational safety programs.
  • Exposure to basic PSM concepts (desirable).
  • OSHA standards: 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry), 29 CFR 1910.147 (LOTO), 29 CFR 1910.146 (Confined Spaces), 29 CFR 1910.1000 (Air Contaminants).
  • NIOSH and ACGIH methodologies for IH sampling and exposure assessment.
  • Use of IH equipment: air pumps, sound level meters, dosimeters, gas detectors, lux meters.
  • Root‑cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone).
  • Intermediate Excel and EHS software platforms.
  • Analytical and critical thinking.
  • Strong communication and teamwork with Operations and Maintenance.
  • Proactive problem-solving.
  • Results-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision and manage technical tasks independently.
  • Executes short‑ and mid‑term initiatives effectively.
  • Demonstrates technical influence to promote safe behaviors and compliance across the site.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Annual Industrial Hygiene Plan.
  • Perform exposure monitoring for noise, particulates, chemical vapors, solvents, illumination, ergonomics, and other relevant stressors.
  • Maintain inventories of chemical, physical, and ergonomic hazards.
  • Analyze IH sampling results and issue technical recommendations for exposure control.
  • Support implementation of engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE selection.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Health to maintain medical surveillance programs.
  • Ensure IH documentation aligns with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 requirements.
  • Support safety programs such as hazard identification & observations, Permit to Work systems, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, working at heights, and machine safeguarding.
  • Conduct incident investigations and participate in root‑cause analysis.
  • Perform routine site safety inspections.
  • Develop and deliver safety training, procedures and awareness materials.
  • Support contractor safety management, including onboarding and compliance reviews.
  • Support documentation and administrative tasks related to PSM in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119.
  • Assist with elements such as contractor management, training documentation, permit-to-work integration, and internal audits.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and data in corporate EHS platforms (SAP, Enablon, or similar).
  • Prepare monthly EHS KPI reports.
  • Support external inspections or regulatory audits involving OSHA, EPA, and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Maintain documentation for compliance with federal and Texas state EHS regulations.
