About The Position

Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, the safety coordinator ensures compliance with all laws and regulations and Albany International Safety Expectations. This role assists the Plant Manager in Safety Management and participates in and manages all health, environmental, and safety programs. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with laws and regulations regarding Occupational Health and Safety, developing and coordinating health and safety programs, participating in incident investigations, and conducting safety training and audits. A key aspect of this role is to foster a culture where safety is a non-negotiable value and employees are actively involved and engaged.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Laws and Regulations regarding Occupational Health and Safety, as well as compliance with AI expectations
  • Participate in the development of the annual strategic plan in Health and Safety
  • Assist and support the Plant Manager in Safety Management
  • Develop, evaluate and coordinate all health and safety programs
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
  • Coordinate and facilitate Health and Safety Committee, Emergency Response Team and First Aid Team
  • Conduct SIF safety audit and general safety audit
  • Conduct required safety training and safety orientation of new employees and other safety training
  • Train and audit subcontractor regarding Albany Safety expectations
  • Identify training needs in health and safety
  • Analyze safety indicators and make recommendations to reduce the risk of accidents
  • Act as an agent of change in cultural change to become a world-class organization in security
  • Foster a culture in which Safety is a value that is never compromised and in which employees are involved and engaged
