About The Position

TrinityRail Maintenance Services, Inc. is searching for a talented team player to fill the open position of Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator (First Shift) at our Shell Rock, IA location. What you'll do: Responsible for providing safety/environmental program support for second shift personnel working at both Shell Rock maintenance and repair facility Implement established safety/environmental programs for compliance to company and government regulations Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving ISO 45001 & 14001 systems Administer and monitor Corporate and plant safety/environmental programs Maintain records of training, qualifications, certifications, etc., as they apply to the safety program Provide training to enable effective operation of the established safety systems (i.e. Confined Space, Overhead Cranes, etc.) Initiate, document, and monitor corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence of incidents Gather information and generate required and/or requested reports Works with employees to resolve safety/environmental issues and techniques Presents EHS training, reports on department metrics, etc. to internal (and possibly external) audiences Build knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers Provide solutions for a range of day-to-day occurrences; analyze these possible solutions using standard procedures and team collaboration Requires the ability to work independently while providing safety/environmental guidance in support of second shift operations Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills Use judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors May lead local projects with a focus on improving EHS systems varying complexity Will serve as resource for other departments as needed Ability to maintain accurate, current records and generate complete and timely reports Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all employees throughout the plant Ability to train others effectively on various safety topic

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or similar field preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which results in required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Advanced computer literacy with MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint required
  • Considerable knowledge of all state and Federal regulations relative to safety, health, environment, and worker’s compensation or ability to acquire quickly

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Written/Verbal Spanish) Preferred
  • Certified Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) Preferred
  • Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) Preferred
  • First Aid/Responder or EMT Certification Preferred
  • ASP or CSP preferred
