About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator is an integral part of the Amprod, LLC corporate support team. We support three rapidly growing manufacturing companies with more than 400 employees, mainly in the Springfield, MO area. Our primary goal is to attract, develop and engage our next generation of high-performers and leadership. The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for coordination of company safety policies and programs and assist with revisions, as needed, to maintain compliance with regulations. As a member of the Amprod LLC Safety Team, this role will also participate in various safety projects and activities. These will include developing/improving processes, performing Hazard Analysis, implementing corrective actions to reduce risk, assisting in development and implementation of safety training, and other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years’ experience in workplace safety; preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Must have the confidence and curiosity to recognize opportunities for safety improvement and work with the appropriate people to take action.
  • Requires the interpersonal skills to interact and collaborate with wide variety of internal personnel.
  • Requires verbal skills to probe and ask questions to ensure understanding of requirements, conditions and behaviors.
  • High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency, especially when multi-tasking.
  • Self-starter that is results and action oriented.
  • Interacts professionally, appropriately and courteously with co-workers and management; treats everyone with respect and dignity.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and must be able to talk and hear. The employee may be asked to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to meet attendance, overtime, and other reliability requirements of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • 24-hour Hazwoper preferred
  • High school diploma preferred but not required
  • Some college in EHS field preferred but equivalent experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Company’s safety policies and programs, and make revisions as needed to maintain its compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Assist employees in performing Job Hazard Analysis’; assist with defining and implementing corrective actions to reduce risk exposure.
  • Work with managers and supervisors in managing hazardous working conditions and eliminating unsafe employee activities. Investigate and recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operations to minimize potential hazards.
  • Assist managers and supervisors in investigating and documenting all property damage, personal injuries, safety violations and unsafe conditions and activities. Review documentation to ensure that all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and coordination of the safety training programs. This may include employee orientations, specific program trainings, monitoring and assisting in weekly safety meetings, supervisor trainings and accident awareness trainings.
  • Collect reports required for records and evaluations of performance of Safety and Accident Prevention Programs.
  • Ensure employee understanding of and compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all sub-contractors and employees comply with jobsite safety rules and regulations.
  • Carry out other such duties as assigned or requested by the Safety Manager.
  • Study and provide current information on government regulations for Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA), and other agencies, and keep management and supervisors advised of revisions of new regulations applicable to company activities.
  • Attend meetings and conferences required by the company, and other organizations considered advantageous to the company’s interest.
  • Some travel required.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
