About The Position

TerraPower, LLC. is seeking a safety professional to provide the following services: The EHS Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing environmental, health, and safety program. The candidate is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to ensure location compliance with regulations, promoting a safe work environment, and driving continuous improvement. This position will support the safeguarding of worker health and safety in the workplace by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling environmental and physical hazards that can cause injury or illness.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related scientific or engineering discipline
  • 7-10 years of experience in EHS or environmental programs, often in a manufacturing, production, laboratory or service operations setting.
  • Experience in a large, complex environment may be desired.
  • Proven leadership or management experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Technical expertise in specific areas such as electrical safety or hazardous materials may also be necessary depending on the industry.
  • Strong communication skills are desired.
  • The service provider will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods, bending/stooping, grasping/gripping, fine motor control (hands)
  • Minimal, with ability to safely lift up to 25 pounds

  • Stairs, typing/keyboard, standard and/or sitting working environment of >8 hrs./day

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation from the Board for Global EHS Credentialing is highly recommended and can enhance career prospects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure site specific EHS programs, policies, and procedures aligned with company goals and objectives.
  • Serve as the primary contact for implementing EHS programs in the region's facilities or sites.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations (e.g., NRC, OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Conduct inspections and audits to assess compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for EHS regulatory agencies and external EHS audits.
  • Ensure risks, unsafe practices and implement controls to mitigate those risks are identified an implemented.
  • Review workplace risk/exposure assessments.
  • Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure EHS training programs for employees at all levels have been adopted.
  • Ensure employees and managers are trained and knowledgeable of their EHS responsibilities.
  • Track and analyze EHS performance metrics.
  • Develop and implement annual improvement plans based on performance data.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance.
  • Provide EHS leadership and guidance to site employees and management.
  • Support and mentor field service employees and local leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with various teams (e.g., operations, training, etc.) to drive program success.
  • Identifying and analyzing potential workplace hazards such as chemical, physical, ergonomic, and biological exposures, and conducting worksite analyses to pinpoint problem areas.
  • Measuring the level of worker exposure to identified hazards through environmental monitoring.
  • Developing and recommending controls to minimize hazards, including engineering controls (e.g., ventilation systems, isolating the hazard), work practice changes, administrative controls (e.g., scheduling changes), and recommending personal protective equipment (PPE).
