About The Position

As our EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for providing safety and environmental technical and administrative support to the EHS Manager and the plant. Make a direct impact on workplace safety and environmental excellence in a collaborative manufacturing environment. Partner with leaders across Operations, Engineering, and HR to drive meaningful continuous improvement initiatives. Take ownership of safety projects and gain hands-on experience influencing plant-wide EHS programs and culture.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in a safety and/or environmental related field
• 3-5 years of experience in the EHS field
• Ability to work effectively with other departments in the development of EHS programs.
• Must possess skills in Word, Excel, and Power Point.
• Basic knowledge of Environmental and Safety Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee / supervisor level.
• Consistently work to promote and maintain a safe working environment and a robust safety culture.
• Be responsible for completing documents/reports required by local, state, and federal agencies in a timely, accurate manner.
• Be responsible for recordkeeping and retrieval of documentation in the event of an emergency, audit, or as needed.
• Assist with site safety and environmental compliance programs and requirements.
• Identify & execute improvements in plant safety systems.
• Take ownership of key safety improvement efforts as assigned; may be individual efforts, leading small teams, or participating as a team member on complex problems.
• Maintain and update internal EHS tracking systems.
• Participate in and support site safety committees/teams.
• Assist in incident investigations and recommends corrective actions.
• Assist EHS Manager in updating plant safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• Provide EHS technical guidance and assistance for site project work.
• Ensure on-site contractors are compliant with safety and environmental policies requirements.
• Participate in New Hire Safety Orientation and safety training.
• Partners with Human Resources, Engineering and Production to improve EHS Management Systems.
• Maintain working relationships with corporate EHS staff and applicable regulatory agencies.
• Work with operations to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and systems that lead to the reduction and prevention of safety and environmental incidents.
