About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and administration of the organization’s environmental, health, and safety programs. This role helps ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace by coordinating safety initiatives, monitoring regulatory compliance, and partnering with site leadership to reduce risk and promote a strong safety culture.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours when necessary to support operational needs.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive information for record keeping purposes.
  • Maintain a HAZWOPER 40 and Incident Command System certification.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the facility EHS inspection program to ensure required inspections are completed and corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Conduct facility risk assessments and identify, develop, and implement measures to mitigate hazards and reduce workplace risks.
  • Participate in and support the facility Safety Committee and related safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate and deliver EHS training for new hires and existing employees.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of required EHS programs and procedures.
  • Maintain and support the facility’s use of the company’s electronic EHS management system.
  • Assist in managing environmental permits and maintaining environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Support line management in performing risk assessments and developing safe work procedures.
  • Participate in the investigation and evaluation of near misses, incidents, accidents, and unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of emergency response plans, including response procedures for injuries, fires, and environmental releases.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of OSHA and EPA recordkeeping and reporting through the company reporting system.
  • Coordinate employee medical monitoring programs as required.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of required environmental reports and regulatory filings.
  • Coordinate all aspects of facility hazardous waste management, including shipment and documentation.
  • Manage the facility Hazard Communication Program, including SDS management, employee training, labeling, and proper storage of hazardous materials.
