About The Position

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community. The ACS Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (OEEO) is responsible for ensuring ACS’s compliance with New York City’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy, as well as federal, state, and local laws that prohibit employment discrimination. The EEO Associate will report directly to the OEEO Deputy Director.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Responsibilities

  • Support the ACS ADA Coordinator, Disability Service Facilitator, Mental Health Coordinator, and Digital Inclusion Officer on Local Law 12 and ADA compliance projects.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on OEEO’s behalf.
  • Assist with the development of OEEO policies, procedures, manuals, and trainings concerning accessibility and reasonable accommodations.
  • Data entry and maintaining accurate records using relevant spreadsheets and databases.
  • Generate reports for OEEO leadership.
  • Process requests for reasonable accommodations under the supervision of the OEEO Deputy Director intermittently based on operational needs and workload demands.
