The EEG Technologist shall perform neurology procedures and provide the technical knowledge, expertise and professional judgment required to support the mission and goal of Sharp HealthCare. Requirements

  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED
  • Certification by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists and/or Associates Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology and/or completion of a certificate/diploma program from Electroencephalographic Technicians - Required
  • Knowledge of Neurodiagnostic procedures and various equipment.
  • Ability to perform various Neurodiagnostic exams.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to use computer keyboard manual dexterity.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements sheet.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to calmly handle multiple telephone or personal contacts daily, and courteously accommodate angry or frustrated customers.
  • Being certified to perform CPR.

Nice To Haves

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Neurodiagnostic training in an approved school and meet the requirements for registry by the R.EEG.T, ASST and ABRE.
  • 1 Year Experience as a Neurodiagnostic Technologist in an acute care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform neurology procedures and provide the technical knowledge, expertise and professional judgment required to support the mission and goal of Sharp HealthCare.
  • Assist in the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with neurological disorders, including epilepsy, stroke, infectious diseases of the nervous system (encephalitis), degenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's), head trauma from accidents, brain tumors, endocrine disorders and brain death.
  • Verify identity of patient.
  • Clean electrodes after each procedure.
  • Follow universal precautions for infection control.
  • Attend to patient needs appropriately.
  • Recognize and respond to life-threatening situations.
  • Follow laboratory protocols for sedation.
  • Comply with lab protocols for emergency and disaster situations.
  • Comply with hazardous material handling procedures.
  • Maintain instrument/equipment in good working order.
  • Take appropriate precautions to ensure electrical safety.
  • Independently identify problems and take appropriate actions to improve departmental operations and/or quality of care.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adequate stocking in both exam and work areas.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to department needs by working additional hours when requested.
  • Practice Standards: Achieve 100% accuracy in checking patient name band, physician orders and pregnancy status.
  • Patient Care Knowledge Evaluation: Achieve 100% score on patient care Quiz.
  • Ensure safe environment by evaluating patient fall risk.
  • Maintain patient medical devices (IV's, catheters, tubes, monitors, oxygen, etc).
  • Utilize proper patient transfer devices when appropriate.
  • Follow appropriate patient care guidelines in emergency situations.
  • General Safety: Submit completed safety test by scheduled deadline with 100% score.
  • Documentation of TB test and CPR certification by scheduled deadline.
  • Practice proper body mechanics 100% of the time.
  • Report and correct observed safety hazards immediately.
  • Report any work-related injury immediately.
  • Adhere to universal precautions.
  • Attend required meetings and inservices.
  • Wear nametag at all times while on duty.
  • Complete time card accurately and submit on time.
  • Present professional image through compliance with dress code and appearance policy.
  • Maintain and submit copies of current certification/licensure.
  • Submit paperwork for annual performance appraisal/peer review by deadline.
