This position works under the supervision of the Senior Administrative Director of Cardiopulmonary Services or designee, Manager or Supervisor. The role assists with the preparation, processing, and distribution of patient charts, reports, and billing. It involves scheduling patient tests and notifying appropriate personnel. The position provides clerical support, answers departmental phones, and routes calls. Responsibilities include utilizing hospital and department computer systems for processing forms, procedures, policies, schedules, and other word processing/typing tasks and projects. The role also performs other assigned duties within the cardiopulmonary service line. The technician accepts and completes assignments in all areas of Neurodiagnostic, Respiratory PFT scheduling, and the Sleep Center in a timely manner. They perform all technical and clinical work as outlined in the American Society Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist Standards (ASET), including recording EEG awake and asleep, evoked potentials, AABR, and EEG seizure monitoring. The role demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care. Key duties include preparing, processing, and distributing patient charts, reports, and billing; scheduling outpatient appointments and keeping relevant parties informed; maintaining accurate patient records and documentation; updating computer systems with patient information; answering departmental phones, confirming patients for sleep studies, rescheduling cancellations, and managing cancellation lists. The role also involves greeting evening patients, providing tours, instructing patients on room amenities, guiding patients through electronic registration, and performing clerical support using hospital and department computer systems. Additionally, the position performs related duties such as special projects and assisting others, assumes an active role in the Sleep Medicine Department’s Continuous Quality Improvement Program, and processes reports. Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential when working with patients, co-workers, and other hospital staff. The role establishes and maintains computerized records and databases for the Cardiopulmonary Service Line and utilizes hospital and department computer systems, including PACS and Reporting Software, and Microsoft Office Suite. The technician performs noninvasive Neurodiagnostic procedures such as awake, asleep EEG's, Evoked Potentials, EEG/Video monitoring, and AABR’s.
