As an EEG Technician, you will be responsible for continuously monitoring inpatient video and EEG recordings to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality data capture, while promptly identifying and reporting any significant changes or abnormalities to the appropriate clinical staff. Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Minimum of one-year direct patient care experience required.
• Must possess working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including weekend rotation.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work within strict timelines.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Requires good problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with hospital staff, neurologists and other technologists.

Nice To Haves

• Science-based background or area of study is preferred.
• One-year direct patient care in an epilepsy monitoring unit.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides continuous observation of inpatient video and EEG recording for an uninterrupted clean recording and for reporting pertinent changes and abnormalities to the appropriate clinical staff.
• Recognizes and detects changes in the recording of the patient. Competence in deciphering artifacts from cortical activity. Alerts nursing, physicians and/or technologist staff when clinical seizures or other paroxysmal events occur.
• Responds to patient events timely and accurately while maintaining patient safety according to policy and procedure. Accurately documents patient information in the recording system, patient logs and within the EEG recording.
• Utilizes knowledge of monitoring system and camera control. Performs troubleshooting of computer hardware, software and network issues within scope of training. Communicates with patient and/or EEG Technician to identify and resolve technical issues during the EEG study. Escalates issues to management as appropriate.
• Communicates effectively and professionally with multidisciplinary staff and "hands-off" pertinent patient information during shift changes.
• Effectively manages high patient volumes and ensures all patient issues are resolved in a prompt and professional manner.
• Completes hospital training to alert supervisor and/or activates hospital systems such as rapid response and cardiac arrest per established protocols when encountering patient clinical issues.
• May assist Neurodiagnostic Technologists with restocking supplies, electrode removal, regel, and disinfection.
