About The Position

Jupiter Medical Center is seeking an EEG/EKG Tech to perform routine, stat, pre-operative, and outpatient EKG testing, as well as adult and pediatric EEGs. The role involves ensuring quality recordings for EKGs and 24-hour holter monitors, assisting with supplies and storage, and participating in report generation, charting, and delivery. The EEG test involves placing electrodes on the patient's scalp, providing stimuli, and measuring brain responses to provide neurologists with essential information for diagnosing brain damage or medical conditions. The technician will also perform simple maintenance on EEG equipment and create CDs for remote readers, along with performing clerical tasks as needed. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • BLS Certification for Health Care Provider from American Heart Association
  • Basic computer skills and medical terminology
  • Completion of a Basic EKG course with good working knowledge of cardiac rhythms and arrhythmia recognition.
  • Must obtain within 3 months of hire Credential as Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) by A.B.R.E.T. or certified EEG Technician by C.M.E.T.
  • EEG technicians must be patient, as they set up and testing process may take hours, must be manually dexterous and have excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Requires excellent communication skills among co-workers, patients, hospital staff, and physicians
  • Enjoy working with people and demonstrate a caring nature
  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program.
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience as an EKG technician preferred
  • Credential as Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) by A.B.R.E.T. or certified EEG Technician by C.M.E.T. preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine, stat, pre-operative and outpatient EKG testing.
  • Performing adult and pediatric EEGs.
  • Responsible for quality recordings of EKG, 24 hour holter monitors as well as other tests performed by the EKG Department.
  • Assists in all phases of supplies and storage of all EKG materials.
  • Participates in report generation, charting and delivery.
  • Responsible for the administration of the EEG test (Electroencephalogram), which requires the tech to place electrodes on the patient’s scalp and then provide stimuli (typically lights or breathing exercises) to the patient and measure the brains responses.
  • Provide neurologists with information about the brain activity of patients.
  • Submit findings to neurologists, who use the reports to aid in the diagnosis of brain damage or medical conditions.
  • Perform simple maintenance on their EEG equipment and create CD’s for remote readers.
  • Performs clerical task as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
