About The Position

The YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic, positive team player who enjoys working with children and brings creativity and energy to the classroom. The teacher supports young children's growth and development, maintains a safe and welcoming classroom, and works collaboratively with coworkers and families. The role requires compliance with Massachusetts EEC regulations and YMCA policies, along with professionalism, reliability, and modeling the YMCA's four core values.

Requirements

• Current Massachusetts EEC Teacher certification for Infant-Toddler and Preschool age groups, as applicable to assignments.
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Meet all EEC background check, training, and professional development requirements.
• Maintain required First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to perform essential childcare duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support children's growth and development.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
• Follow EEC regulations, including child supervision, staff-to-child ratios, health and safety procedures, and required documentation.
• Use positive guidance techniques and encourage children's social and emotional development.
• Build positive relationships and communicate professionally with families.
• Work collaboratively with coworkers and demonstrate flexibility when working across age groups.
• Complete required trainings, maintain certifications, and follow YMCA policies.
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
• Model the YMCA's four core values in daily interactions with children, families, and staff.
