About The Position

The Maryland State Department of Education is dedicated to supporting a world-class educational system that prepares all students for college and career success in the 21st century. With excellent stewardship from our divisions, we oversee State and federal programs that support the needs of a diverse population – students, teachers, principals, and other educators throughout Maryland. This position supports the mission of the Agency, Division and Branch by providing accurate licensure information to prospective, current, and past credential holders and thereby facilitating the issuance of licenses to professional educators, employed in Maryland local education agencies, nonpublic schools, state institutions, and those seeking Maryland professional licensure.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Four years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.
One year of experience working in Education (private, higher education, or local education agency)

Nice To Haves

Experience with Call Center Customer Service.
Experience with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite and Smartsheet
Experience with document management (filing, scanning, cataloging)
Data management experience

Responsibilities

Independently responsible for screening applications to determine completeness of documents.
Reviews all correspondence and documentation received and assigns to appropriate specialist.
Enters information into The Educator Application and Credentialing Hub (TEACH).
Provides internal and external constituents with complex licensure information.
Provides technical assistance to applicants submitting requests through the portal.
Provides support for scanning licensure documents.
Independently completes Hall of Records requests.
Providing back-up administrative support for the Division of Educator Effectiveness.
