About The Position

The Educator is responsible for using sound judgement and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to the service population while maintaining compliance with established program standards. BCFS Health and Human Services established in 1944 is a non-profit organization with locations and nationally doing noble work across Texas and the United States, specializing in community-based care for at risk families and children (abused and/or neglected & domestic violence), prevention & early intervention services, housing for young adults aging out of the foster care system, mental health & life skill services, advocacy and case management coordination for survivors of human trafficking, medical programs for women who are pregnant or post-partum, and serving families who have a child with a disability or special needs by providing them with an opportunity to visit the world’s first theme park designed with individuals with special needs in mind.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bilingual. Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
  • With a high school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of related experience and/or training in a related field.
  • Maintain certificates required for the position including but not limited to First Aid and CPR.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s license with a clear driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens.
  • Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years).
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach, enrollment, and orientation activities for eligible participants.
  • Establishes and maintains a trusting and professional working relationship with families and the target population.
  • Collaborate with Program Director and Care Coordinators to provide community education.
  • Facilitate and/or plan group-based education sessions tailored to meet the needs of the target population. Topics include but are not limited to Parenting Skills, Life Skills, Finance, Job Readiness, Infant Care, Maternal Health, Healthy Relationships, Community Resources, etc…
  • Provide one-on-one non-clinical mentoring as needed.
  • Conduct surveys among the program participants to help identify the most needed topics.
  • Foster supportive connections between participants.
  • Disseminate educational material in accordance with HHSC Guidelines.
  • Attend community events to perform outreach and recruitment.
  • Meets with the Program Director and Program Supervisor on a bi-weekly basis to evaluate the status of the education plan
  • Maintains timely and accurate file documentation and data entry that meets the program requirements.
  • Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Program Director and all appropriate state and county enforcement agencies.
  • Maintains own schedule of education classes and events.
  • Identify and maintain professional relationships with clients and community partners.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and case consultations.
  • Maintains BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the employee handbook, including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with the required dress code, at all times.
  • Facilitate education sessions twice a week (in-person, virtual, or hybrid).
  • Collaborate with the Program Supervisor to provide group-based education.
  • Enroll 3-4 new participants weekly.
  • Document client visits, interactions, outcomes, and education provided to participants in Salesforce within two business days.
  • Create and oversee monthly education schedule.
  • Record all activities in a complete, concise, and timely manner utilizing program forms into Salesforce (BCFS) software.
  • Meet all deadlines required by the Program Supervisor, Program Director, Regional Director, and state/federal partners.
  • Demonstrate the ability to: Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Demonstrate the ability to: Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
  • Demonstrate the ability to: Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to: Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrate the ability to: Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Other job duties as assigned per grant requirements.
