About The Position

To inspire and prepare all students with the confidence, courage and confidence to achieve their dreams, contribute to community, and engage in a lifetime of learning by assisting EL teaching staff with instructional and operational tasks, working directly and indirectly with students. Responsibilities and tasks include: Provide instructional support to English Learner (EL) students in individual, small-group, and classroom settings to strengthen English language development and academic success. Collaborate with EL teachers and classroom teachers to implement instructional strategies, reinforce language skills, and support students in accessing grade-level curriculum. Build positive relationships with students by fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment that promotes confidence and engagement. Support student progress by monitoring participation, encouraging independence, and providing feedback to the supervising teacher on student growth and needs. Assist with classroom routines and instructional preparation , including organizing learning materials, preparing resources, and supporting technology used during instruction. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while effectively communicating and collaborating with staff, students, and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Applicants must be considered Highly Qualified (HQ) by their start date per the Minnesota Department of Education.
  • Applicants meet the Highly Qualified requirement if they have: Two years of study at an institution of higher education (a minimum of 60 semester credits or the amount required to complete two years of full-time enrollment as determined by the institution attended); OR An associate's degree (or higher); OR Received a passing score on the ParaPro, ParaEducator, or ParaPathways Assessment.
  • The District will pay for the assessment.
