About The Position

The Educational Sped Aide - SST Corpus Christi Elementary is a full-time Teacher Assistant position. This role supports teachers in achieving student academic goals by working with small groups or individual children. The aide assists in enforcing classroom management and behavioral plans to create an appropriate learning environment. Responsibilities include supervising students during various activities such as breakfast, recess, lunch, dismissal, and special events. The aide also assists with paperwork for the ARD/IEP process, collects and enters data for special education reports, and supports the planning, preparation, and implementation of differentiated instruction. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively, establish and maintain working relationships, organize special programs, utilize various computer software and office equipment, analyze data, and employ effective interview, public speaking, and problem-solving skills. The work environment is a classroom setting requiring light work with occasional light lifting, and intermittent speaking, standing, walking, and writing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
  • Ability to analyze data
  • Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 48 college hours is preferred.
  • Experience working with children is preferred.
  • Ability to organize special programs for assigned campus.

Responsibilities
