About The Position

We are seeking an Educational Sales Consultant in Texas. This role involves developing and implementing strategic plans to identify sales opportunities, respond to customer needs, prospect new business, build relationships, and follow up on leads. The consultant will manage a territory, generate quotes, demonstrate product knowledge, and leverage available resources to achieve sales goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English or related field.
  • Three to five years of sales experience working for a high-volume, fast-paced company.
  • Ability to be a quick learner and multi-task.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
  • Professional orientation and demeanor.
  • Proven ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure with flexibility.
  • Willingness to work long hours.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve or surpass sales goals for territory within expense guidelines.
  • Develop strategic plans to identify opportunities for supplemental, core, and PD sales and to win the business.
  • Manage the territory by using CRM effectively to enter and track opportunities, contacts, cuts, wins, and losses.
  • Generate quotes and provide support for proposals, including reviewing and evaluating RFPs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of print and digital products and present them in various settings.
  • Demonstrate competitive knowledge and use it to position and present products to win.
  • Effectively utilize resources such as consultants, promotion, samples, authors, and management.
  • Provide sales, sampling, and inventory forecasts as requested.
  • Embrace change and analyze/communicate trends impacting current and future business.
  • Seek out, understand, and leverage technology trends and needs, communicating them to management, editorial, and marketing.
  • Demonstrate effective questioning and listening skills to identify customer issues and needs.
  • Prospect and meet with new and existing TX school customers.
  • Utilize negotiation skills and closing techniques to win business.
  • Help plan and coordinate product training with customers and PD staff for successful implementation of materials.
  • Plan and implement Invitationals/Presentations as needed.
  • Attend selected local, national, and regional exhibits as requested.
  • Follow up on leads from online ads, ads, and exhibits/conferences.
  • Review and provide feedback on new marketing materials.
  • Participate in weekly sales team conference calls.
  • Perform general administrative activities.
  • Undertake other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
