About The Position

This role involves supporting, encouraging, and recruiting foster parents as part of the Foster Care Programs. The Educational Facilitator will collaborate with other teachers and administrators to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational program and make recommendations for improvement. They will also communicate and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students, and effectively communicate with various stakeholders including facility staff, children, federal staff, legal representatives, and community resources. The position requires monitoring program data and reporting to Compass Connections administration and management, as well as the Office of Refugee Resettlement. Additionally, the role involves participating in service expansion planning, budget preparations, and long and short-term planning. Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional and ethical standards are crucial. The Educational Facilitator will also participate in the assessment, identification, and documentation of the educational needs of children in care, and collaborate in identifying student instructional needs and developing instructional programs. Implementing a culturally competent educational curriculum and teaching assigned subject areas are key responsibilities. The role requires travel from one location to another daily and meeting predetermined deadlines and reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certification by the relevant governing authority, Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification, or other appropriate accrediting body, and additional training to meet the special needs of unaccompanied children
  • First Aid CPR Emergency Behavior Intervention certification
  • At least three (3) years of teaching and supervising, including a minimum of one (1)year of supervisory experience
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background check.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current educational best practices for the service population.
  • Demonstrate the ability to: Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Demonstrate the ability to: Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, and professionals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to: Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and provide performance feedback for program personnel in accordance with agency policies and procedures and federal and state standards and requirements.
  • Select, acquire, store, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies for the educational program.
  • Complete all notification and reporting requirements in accordance with state and federal contract and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational program and make recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Communicate and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
  • Effectively communicate with and between facility staff, children, federal staff, legal representatives for the service population, and other community resources.

  • Implement an educational curriculum that is culturally competent, develops skills in compulsory domains, and reflects current educational best practices.
  • Teach one or more subject areas at the level assigned to this position.
