About The Position

The NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), in collaboration with its partners, protects the health and safety of all North Carolinians and provides essential human services. DHHS has established a new Division of Child and Family Well-Being that focuses on supporting whole child and family health and well-being for North Carolinians. This division works to ensure that North Carolina's children grow up safe, healthy and thriving in nurturing and resilient families and communities. It will bring together complementary programs from the Divisions of Public Health, Mental Health, and Social Services to maximize services and outcomes for children and their families, including nutrition programs (SNAP, WIC and Child and Adult Care Food Program), health and prevention services for children and youth, children's behavioral health services, and early intervention programs. The primary purpose of this position is being a member of a multidisciplinary evaluation team, the Educational Diagnostician II conducts developmental evaluations and child/family assessments for children 0-3 years to determine eligibility for the Infant-Toddler Program and to assess child and family needs for early intervention supports and services. Services provided through the NC ITP must be compliant with the IDEA, federal regulations, and State policies and procedures. This position is located within the catchment area of the Children's Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) of The Cape Fear (Fayetteville). This position will be located and serve children in Cumberland Co and the surrounding areas (Robeson Co, Cumberland Co., Bladen Co., & Sampson Co).

Requirements

  • Master's degree in special education or psychology from an appropriately accredited institution, and two years of experience in educational testing.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in special education or psychology from an appropriately accredited institution, and three years of experience in educational testing.
  • OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to drive and travel by car across the CDSA’s defined catchment area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience administering developmental evaluation measures
  • Experience working with and collaborating with families, community organizations, and other agencies.
  • Knowledge of coaching interaction styles and adult learning principles.
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers and their families using research-informed and/or evidence-based practices for the provision of early intervention services.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including experience with report writing

Responsibilities

  • Conducts developmental evaluations and child/family assessments for children 0-3 years to determine eligibility for the Infant-Toddler Program.
  • Assesses child and family needs for early intervention supports and services.
  • Ensures services provided through the NC ITP are compliant with the IDEA, federal regulations, and State policies and procedures.
  • Travels across the CDSA’s defined catchment area to serve children in Cumberland Co and surrounding areas (Robeson Co, Cumberland Co., Bladen Co., & Sampson Co).
