About The Position

Curriculum Associates is seeking a temporary, part-time, per-diem Professional Learning Educational Consultant with an ELA or Reading background. The consultant facilitates professional development, training, support, and data analysis, and communicates consultatively with school teachers and leaders. The role works closely with the Director of Professional Learning, the sales team, and other Curriculum Associates professionals. Consultants become experts in the company’s online diagnostic and instruction program and Common Core product, focusing on ELA or Reading, and help educators implement Ready and i-Ready to improve classroom learning. The position is based in Mississippi and supports districts throughout the state and regionally. Candidates must live in, be near, or be willing to relocate to Mississippi. This is not a remote role. Consultants need their own transportation and a valid driver’s license, and travel up to 80% is required, including possible overnight stays and travel by car, plane, or public transportation. Out-of-state travel may be required based on business demand. Per-diem consultants are scheduled as needed and paid hourly. Work is heavily seasonal and dependent on customer demand, with professional development usually scheduled during normal school hours. Peak periods are August through October and January and February, though work occurs throughout the school year. The stated start date is ASAP. Compensation is $30–$65 per hour, depending on assigned work. Work-related flight and hotel travel points may be kept; mileage reimbursement may be available for applicable travel. A company-provided laptop is included.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree at minimum.
At least 2 years of experience teaching ELA or Reading, coaching ELA or Reading teachers, and providing ELA or Reading professional development.
Strong working knowledge of Common Core State Standards for ELA or Reading in Grades K–8, or comparable state standards, including content and practice standards.
Fluency with digital tools, including online assessments, and comfort discussing and applying data with teachers and leaders.
Understanding of adult-learning principles and how to apply them in professional development to help participants meet learning objectives.
Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Strong time management, organizational skills, prioritization, and attention to detail.
Excellent computer and internet skills, including Office programs such as Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work independently and as part of an educational cohort.
Must live in, be near, or be willing to relocate to Mississippi.
Must have own transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Ability to travel up to 80%, including overnight stays; out-of-state travel may be required.
Availability for work scheduled as needed, usually during normal school hours.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in ELA or Reading.
Knowledge of online meeting programs such as Zoom or WebEx.

Responsibilities

Become an expert on the company’s online diagnostic and instruction program and Common Core product, focusing on ELA or Reading.
Coordinate and deliver on-site product training and professional learning courses for teachers and school administrators, adapting workshops within specified parameters to participants’ needs.
Deliver professional learning to teachers, coaches, and leaders on effectively implementing Ready and i-Ready to impact classroom learning.
Provide tailored on-site support, including lesson planning and pacing assistance, helping educators analyze data and apply it to instruction, and helping leaders identify implementation successes and challenges.
Participate in internal professional improvement and development, including observation, feedback, and coaching.
Track and submit detailed training notes and complete assignments in a timely manner.
Present a professional image to customers and prospects.
