About The Position

Provide audiological services to students with hearing, balance, and related auditory needs across educational settings. As a School Audiologist, you'll evaluate and diagnose student hearing concerns, recommend and fit classroom amplification, and serve as a key member of the IEP team — ensuring students with hearing loss have full access to their education. This role combines direct assessment, consultative services, and collaboration with school staff and families in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

Requirements

Valid Audiologist license issued by the New Mexico Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensing Practices Board
New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) Instructional Support Provider license — Audiologist (PreK-12) endorsement
Doctoral degree in Audiology (AuD, PhD, or combined AuD/PhD) or equivalent, from an accredited program
Minimum one year of experience as a practicing audiologist in an educational setting
Valid driver's license (travel between school sites required)
Background check/fingerprint clearance and TB clearance

Nice To Haves

Experience working within an IEP team framework
Strong skill in interpreting and reporting audiometric and related behavioral test data
Ability to work effectively with diverse student and family populations

Responsibilities

Examine students with hearing, balance, and related auditory concerns
Assess exam results and diagnose student hearing needs
Interpret audiological test results and make recommendations as part of the IEP team
Select and fit appropriate classroom amplification systems
Monitor student progress with hearing loss and amplification use, adjusting as needed
Determine appropriate courses of treatment based on students' educational needs
Participate as an IEP team member in decisions regarding student services
Counsel students, staff, and families on communication strategies (e.g., lip reading, assistive technology)
Evaluate, follow up on, and document student progress
Consult with school staff and families regarding hearing-related educational needs
Educate students on hearing loss prevention
