About The Position
The educational assistant supports and assists the classroom teacher. The teacher communicates with the educational assistant regarding support tasks that help classroom management or that support student learning. The educational assistant is oriented and evaluated by the school principal and/or designee. The educational assistant helps in upholding the mission, vision, learning, and discipline philosophy of St. Anthony School.
Requirements
- Possess at least a high school diploma
- Experience in working with youth
- Some awareness of the climate and culture of a school
- Required to take part in any professional development offered by the school
Nice To Haves
- Possesses post high school credits in a college or technical school program
- Bilingual candidates are preferred
- Catholic candidates are preferred
Responsibilities
- Individual student help in reading, writing, and mathematics
- Small group assistance to students in reading, writing, and mathematics
- Limited grading of some types of student work
- Translating orally or writing (if bilingual)
- Monitor students during bathroom breaks
- Lunch supervision
- Assist the substitute teacher with classroom coverage in the absence of the teacher
- Classroom Coverage as needed
- Calling parents as directed by the teacher or office personnel
- Designing bulletin boards, working on projects
- Performs other duties as assigned.
