About The Position

Seeking a dependable and compassionate Educational Assistant to support students and teachers in a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment. This position will assist students with academic tasks, organization, classroom routines, and social-emotional needs. The Educational Assistant will work closely with teachers to reinforce instruction, encourage positive behavior, supervise students, and help students develop independence, confidence, and effective school habits. The ideal candidate demonstrates patience and strong communication skills, and is committed to helping middle school students succeed academically and personally.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates degree, 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits from a higher education institute, or a score of 461 or better on the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Basic computer and office machine skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in one-on-one, small group situations to students and other school staff.
  • Ability to verbally respond to common inquiries from students.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work well with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Focused on solving conflict, maintaining confidentiality, listening to others, keeping emotions under control, remain opened minded to others ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work with students.
  • Must be able to adapt to different learning environments and be able to work with different students throughout the day in a variety of subjects.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ADHD, autism, anger and behavior management, and physical health needs in children (may be required for Special Ed positions).
