About The Position

North Wasco County School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Educational Assistant(S) IV-Mental Health in the Day Treatment Program at both the Elementary and Secondary Level. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience in working with children and/or young adolescents.
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Education Act (ESSEA) (minimum 72 quarter hours of accredited college or equivalent education or successfully passed Work Keys Test in Applied Mathematics - 4, Workplace Documents - 4, and Business Writing - 3).
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, and patrons.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening test.
  • Ability to pass a criminal history verification (background check).

Responsibilities

  • Perform instructional duties and assist in student management.
  • Supervise students using empathetic and disciplinarian approaches.
  • Instruct a wide variety of students in different situations.
  • Understand the phases and temperaments of children and young adolescents.
  • Physically demonstrate the physical restraint of students under Oregon State Restraint and CPI Guidelines.
  • Exercise good judgment in stressful situations.
  • Operate basic office and audio-visual equipment.
  • Perform alphabetizing, record-keeping, and filing procedures.
  • Abide by confidentiality rights of students and parents.
  • Work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Apply school district rules, regulations, policies, and practices in a fair, consistent manner.

Benefits

  • Non-PERS eligible salary range: $19.32-$22.40
  • PERS eligible salary range: $20.55-$23.83
