About The Position

The Educational Aide assists teachers with curriculum planning, student supervision, and teaching in a classroom setting. The role supports the presentation and reinforcement of learning concepts and helps maintain a safe, stimulating educational environment. The position is with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice at Gainesville RYDC in Gainesville, Georgia, and is listed for the day shift at $20 per hour.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in a school setting or related field.
• Associate degree from an accredited institution in general education, sociology, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate.
• At least two years of experience working in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in maintaining a safe and stimulating educational environment.
• Assist teachers with planning and preparation for daily activities and instructional efforts.
• Help prepare lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas.
• Plan, prepare, and develop teaching aids, including activity sheets, drawings, and handouts.
• Present subject matter under a teacher’s guidance using methods such as stories, discussions, and role playing.
• Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
• Perform clerical duties supporting classroom activities, including preparing, typing, copying, and filing instructional materials.
• Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials.
• Observe and control student behavior in the classroom according to approved procedures.
• Participate in professional growth activities.
• Follow communicated school district policies and procedures.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
