About The Position

Under the supervision of a teacher, Education Support Professionals (ESPs) provide direct services and support to students and participate in the daily instruction and activities of the school, program, and class to which the students are assigned. Beyond the normal classroom activities, the duties of an ESP correspond directly to the needs of students. This position may involve special needs duties such as lifting, toileting and transportation assistance. This position works closely with students on a regular basis in an effort to provide them with the support needed to gain full benefits from their education program. Students may have disabilities/diagnoses that include learning disabilities, developmental disorders, autism, physical handicaps, multiple handicaps. Students may also speak a language other than English.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to assist students with lifting, toileting, and transportation.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities/diagnoses including learning disabilities, developmental disorders, autism, physical handicaps, and multiple handicaps.
  • Ability to work with students who speak a language other than English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an educational support role.
  • Familiarity with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
