About The Position

Weymouth Public Schools is seeking an Education Support Professional for its Applied Behavioral Analyst (ABA) CEP Program. This role is crucial in supporting students with disabilities by implementing instructional plans designed by special educators. The program aims to foster curiosity, celebrate diversity, and nurture a lifelong passion for learning in a supportive environment for over 5,600 students across 11 school buildings. The Education Support Professional will work directly with students to help them achieve their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, monitor progress, and communicate effectively with staff and families.

Requirements

  • Have obtained an associate (or higher) degree, OR Have at least two years of post-secondary education that is equivalent to at least 48 credit hours from an accredited higher education institution, OR Have met a rigorous standard on one of the formal Massachusetts-endorsed Assessments: Parapro or WorkKeys.
  • Completion of Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training course required.
  • Collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate computers, use Google Suite, and other required programs.
  • Ability to exercise patience, tact, and good judgment.
  • Ability to identify sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to succeed in a complex and changing environment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.

Nice To Haves

  • Hold and Maintain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with Special Education/IEPs and 504 plans preferred.
  • Experience with data collection/documentation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support and carry out instruction designed by special educators to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities in a calm and non-reactionary manner.
  • Assist a student in achieving IEP goals.
  • Monitor and document student progress.
  • Regularly communicate with the classroom teacher(s) and/or service providers.
  • Understand boundaries and diplomacy with colleagues, families, and community members.
  • Communicate information for or from parents/guardians to the classroom teacher (Prek-5) or Special Education Liaison (6-12).
  • Manage students with aggressive behaviors, apply behavior de-escalation and safety skills, and implement Positive Behavior Support Plans.
  • Facilitate small group instruction.
  • Assist with toileting/diapering students.
  • Provide a variety of specialized learning techniques and/or applied behavioral activities pertaining to instruction individualized for student support/instruction.
  • Monitor student progress and collect and document appropriate data regarding academic and/or behavioral information.
  • Model appropriate tasks, skills, and behaviors for students.
  • Implement the use of verbal and visual supports for students.
  • Apply ABA principles and methodology throughout the day.
  • Provide regular daily communication with the classroom teachers and/or special education liaison.
  • Implement discrete trial instruction programs.
  • Collect data and assist with graphing and analyzing data, such as incidental teaching, behavior chains, shaping, chaining, and differential reinforcement in inclusion settings.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and BCBAs to monitor skill development, student progress, and record appropriate data regarding academic and/or behavioral information.
  • Participate in district-provided job-related training.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Building Principal(s) and/or Central Office Special Education Administration and/or Assistant Director(s).
