About The Position

Under general direction, this position is responsible for achieving the tasks listed below. The Education Supervisor is responsible for the direct oversight of the Head Start teaching team(s) in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards and the CAAC policies and procedures. They conduct performance evaluations of teaching teams and communicate regularly, respectfully, and cooperatively with all. This role provides day-to-day direct supervision for centers, classrooms, and staff, including center management, facility support, problem solving and conflict resolution, to assure program compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and state of Michigan licensing regulations as well as program policies and procedures. The supervisor participates in interviewing panels and hiring staff, including intern placements, and designated team meetings such as the Staffing of Students, School Readiness, Management and Family Engagement Meetings. They also assist Family Engagement Specialists in planning parent engagement and education activities, including PACT and Family Night, and assist with open houses and special programs as needed. Responsibilities include reviewing, monitoring, and approving weekly lesson plans, checklists, monthly in-kind reports, and biannual home visiting and conference forms from the classrooms. The supervisor collects, reviews, and distributes classroom paperwork, conducts onsite monitoring of anecdotal records and curriculum implementation/fidelity, and provides ongoing professional development and practice-based coaching using data. They respond to and follow-up on parent and/or staff concerns, review supply orders, partner with the Teacher Coach and Mental Health and Support Services Department, and review the monthly newsletter. Additionally, the supervisor participates in the annual program self-assessment, completes reports and documentation regularly, conducts performance self-evaluations, and works to improve job performance and develop individual professional development goals annually. They adhere to the agency's Confidentiality Agreement, respect and promote the unique identity of each child and family, and ensure compliance with all Local, State, and Federal regulations. Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Early Education Services.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education OR a baccalaureate or advanced degree and equivalent coursework in early childhood education with early education teaching experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with children with differing abilities.
  • Equivalent combination of related training and experience.
  • Pass employment physical & TB test.
  • Certified in Child and Adult CPR and Basic First Aid.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and follow-up on parent and/or staff concerns.
  • Review orders for office, classroom and center supplies and submit to the Director of Operations.
  • Partner with the Teacher Coach and the Mental Health and Support Services Department.
  • Review the monthly newsletter.
  • Participate in the annual program self-assessment.
  • Complete reports and documentation on a regular basis.
  • Conduct a performance self-evaluation and develop individual professional development goals annually.
  • Adhere to the agency's Confidentiality Agreement.

  • Ensure compliance with all Local, State, and Federal regulations.
