About The Position

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Education Supervisor to join our team at our Papago Park Campus. This position works Tuesday–Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The Arizona Humane Society is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Education Supervisor to lead engaging programs that inspire compassion for animals and strengthen our connection with the community. In this role, you'll supervise a team of educators, oversee our Humane Teens leadership program and award-winning summer camps, and help develop innovative educational experiences for learners of all ages. Working alongside the Senior Manager of Education & Outreach, you'll build community partnerships, enhance existing programs, and create new opportunities that expand the reach of humane education. From school field trips and workshops to scout programs, tours, birthday parties, and community presentations, you'll play a key role in delivering impactful experiences while ensuring exceptional customer service and program quality. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a passion for education, youth development, and animal welfare. This position combines leadership, program development, curriculum planning, team coaching, administrative oversight, and hands-on care of our Education Animal Teachers to create meaningful experiences that inspire lifelong advocates for animals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent of experience required.
  • Valid AZ driver's license required.
  • Fingerprint clearance card required.
  • Two or more years of combined experience working with children and adults in a formal education, informal natural science, or environmental education setting.
  • Experience presenting thematically based interpretive programs to audiences of all ages.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with high energy and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and communicate science and animal welfare concepts to youth.
  • Personable, responsible, and energetic, with the ability to initiate discussions and effectively communicate with all age levels through good listening skills, friendliness, enthusiasm, positive attitude and humor.
  • Ability to constantly evaluate an audience and tailor the program to provide information and entertainment at an appropriate age level.
  • Capacity to work independently and communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with public speaking and public appearances.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
  • Must be able to handle live animals, including snakes and invertebrates, safely and humanely in all conditions.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening.
