About The Position

You will serve as an EDUCATION SPECIALIST in the ADMISSIONS COST CENTER of the NAVAL ACADEMY. Duties include retrieving, identifying, examining, and processing application files for accuracy and completeness. You will follow up with Admissions Board queries to resolve questions/discrepancies in candidate files. You will review transcripts of incoming non-candidates and evaluate their potential to become candidates. You will audit selected application files when requested. You will also collect, analyze, and compile numerical data for the Class Profile and Admissions weekly status reports.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • GS-09: Resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate: Applying laws, regulations, and established admissions guidance to ensure applications are processed accurately, consistently, and in accordance with requirements; Implementing U.S. Naval Academy Admission Board, or similar organization, policies and procedures when reviewing applicant records, identifying deficiencies, and supporting admissions actions; Utilizing Salesforce and other automated admissions systems to maintain applicant records, track application status, validate information, and produce required reports; Identifying and developing awareness of key influencers and stakeholder networks within assigned geographic regions to support outreach and applicant engagement; and Supporting Office of Admissions strategy and goals by delivering accurate, timely, and customer-focused guidance on admissions processes and requirements.
  • GS-07: Resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate: Utilizing automated software programs to perform administrative functions; Liaising with multiple departments to gather and validate information; Reviewing and auditing applications/files to ensure accuracy; Answering questions on academic admissions processes and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
