About The Position

Firelands Health is seeking an Education Specialist to design and coordinate staff and community programs to enhance staff abilities and promote wellness. This role assists in coordinating professional development programs for Medical Center staff to maintain licensure/certification requirements. The specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of records/reports required for accrediting agencies and healthcare regulatory standards, recommending timely record management changes as required. They will participate in developing simulation education for Nursing and other departments and support General Orientation, Nursing Orientation, and Code Ready programs. Additionally, the role involves assisting with the development of tailored programs for Medical Center departments (BLS, ACLS EKG Basics, PALS, Aegis & TNCC) and coordinating/implementing instructor updates, renewals, and new instructor development. The specialist will support e-learning education through Education Council collaboration and is responsible for compiling and submitting QA reports to the Director, Education Services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program of paramedic training.
  • Current certification as an EMT-Paramedic from the State of Ohio.
  • ACLS, PALS, and BLS Instructor Status through American Heart Association or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Successful completion of a 90 day probationary period.

Nice To Haves

  • National Registry certification is preferred.
  • Additional instructor statuses highly encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development of tailored programs for Medical Center departments that assist in meeting department specific educational needs (BLS, ACLS EKG Basics, PALS, Aegis & TNCC) utilizing current standards of care and evidence-based practices.
  • Coordinates and implements instructor updates, renewals and develops new instructors for each program.
  • Supports e-learning education through Education Council collaboration.
  • Plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates requested/required professional development programs.
  • Responsible for compiling and timely submitting QA reports to the Director, Education Services.
