About The Position

The UNM-Taos HSE Coordinator provides both instructional and operational leadership for the program, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator and leader with a strong foundation in instruction guided by the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS). They possess expertise in developing and implementing integrated curricula that incorporate language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies concepts. They are skilled in instructional coaching, supervising staff, and supporting professional growth through evidence-based practices and ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years' experience with instruction in math or language arts content.
  • Experience working with adult learners and/or diverse learners (culturally diverse, learning differences, at-risk, first-generation, etc...)
  • Understanding of trauma-informed education.
  • Experience with curriculum development or instructional design, incorporating relevant and engaging topics into reading, writing, and math instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with individuals within a diverse community.
  • Experience in job training, career development, and/or advising students in career pathways.
  • Experience supervising employees or coaching instructors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and/or Math in a classroom setting.
  • Integrate workforce preparedness into academic instruction.
  • Supervise instructors
  • Collaborate with students, instructors, community partners, and stakeholders, to champion student success.
  • Build meaningful relationships with students and staff, utilizing motivational coaching strategies to encourage persistence, goal attainment, and learner and instructor success.
  • Guide the ongoing development and implementation of integrated curriculum utilizing Universal Design for Learning principles and rooted in the CCRS.
  • Effectively analyze program data, generate reports, evaluate outcomes, and use findings to drive program improvement and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Contributes to grant reports, proposal writing, and reporting activities that support program growth and sustainability.
  • Connect data, performance outcomes, funding requirements, and organizational goals to ensure the continued success and sustainability of the program.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends, best practices, and policy developments in adult education and lead efforts to advocate for and implement innovative approaches that improve student outcomes and strengthen program impact.
