About The Position

The education programs and outreach manager oversees all aspects of South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity’s educational offerings and community engagement initiatives. The manager is responsible for setting and attaining the organization’s annual education and outreach goals, which includes developing and delivering mission-critical education classes. The curriculum will prepare people for homebuying and include topics such as eligibility for our homeownership program, loan readiness, debt management, credit improvement, building and maintaining financial health, and budget creation and management. An additional second suite of offerings will support people on how to be a successful homeowner, including information on neighbor relationships and conflict resolution, managing shared community spaces, maintaining the home, emergency preparedness, estate planning and more. The manager will establish and maintain partnerships to enhance community awareness and participation in all programs and continuously explore opportunities to grow and innovate engagement initiatives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two years of experience in at least one of the following areas: adult education, personal finance, mortgage underwriting, real estate, or similar (may be a part of above)
  • Three years of experience in education, nonprofit program design and development, community outreach, or related combination of experience
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, speak, present, write, and edit well.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in delivering culturally competent, compelling and impactful adult educational content.
  • Strong sense of design with ability to create professional, branded education materials and presentations.
  • Ability to build and sustain strong community relationships.
  • Exceptionally organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, a demanding workload, and day-to-day tasks to maintain participant satisfaction.
  • Tech-savvy with a strong understanding of common email/calendar applications and tracking tools, and an ability to adopt and optimize new technologies.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to pass a background and reference check.
  • Commitment to the South Puget Sound Habitat mission and core values.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in homeownership, lending, title and/or debt-reduction processes.

Responsibilities

  • Education Content Design and Delivery (55%)
  • Define and develop comprehensive homebuying and homeownership educational offerings for adult learners.
  • Prepare all presentation and class materials and manage scheduling dates, times, locations, and technology needs for all classes.
  • Deliver educational classes in a variety of ways to reach more people (community meetings, in-person and virtual offerings, libraries, videos, etc.).
  • Identify and remove barriers to participation (scheduling, childcare, transportation, translation services, learning modes/styles, accessibility, etc.).
  • Research and identify additional educational needs that are not currently met in the community and design curriculum to serve those audiences.
  • Partner with appropriate team members to create marketing materials to promote class offerings.
  • Track participant registration, attendance, and learning outcomes to meet program eligibility requirements and to assess and improve offerings.
  • Community Engagement, Outreach and Advocacy (40%)
  • Build relationships with businesses, service organizations, agencies, jurisdictions, and faith-based groups to increase awareness and participation in our homeownership, repair, volunteer, education, and any emerging program
  • Deliver presentations to a wide range of audiences on our mission, programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Coordinate tabling at community events to increase organization and program awareness.
  • Collaborate and partner with advancement team to maximize all engagement efforts in support of program growth and philanthropy.
  • Serve as an articulate, knowledgeable and enthusiastic spokesperson for the organization.
  • Grow outreach efforts by solidifying future community engagement opportunities, such as presentations, tabling events, info sessions, etc.
  • Leadership, Teamwork, and Inclusivity (5%)
  • Maintain a “team first” outlook, supporting the success of the team and the mission in attitude, ideas, and actions; lead by example and with active, creative input for growing and improving the organization.
  • Meet and endorse organization standards for record keeping and information sharing.
  • Contribute to organization events, helping as necessary with set up/take down, management, networking, various tasks, etc.
  • Participate in intentional learning efforts, including events relating to understanding institutional racism and building cultural competency.
