About The Position

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium has been educating, inspiring, and providing enjoyment to our community for over 100 years. Our Education department is currently seeking a part-time School and Community Programmer who is passionate about learning new things and giving our guests the best possible experience. This role is responsible for supporting all educational programming, serving as primary facilitator. This includes teaching on zoo grounds, off-site at schools, and community organizations. Other tasks include writing curriculum for program areas, providing interpretive talks, performing animal demonstrations and creating other relevant programming. The ideal candidate has experience leading classrooms or teaching in informal education settings.

Requirements

  • Must be 21+ years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
  • Experience leading classrooms or teaching in informal education settings.
  • Pre-employment screening and background check are required.
  • The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.

Nice To Haves

  • College experience up to sophomore year preferred.
  • Background and experience in animal sciences, education, environmental or natural sciences a plus.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
