About The Position

The Alaska Public Lands Information Center is seeking a dynamic candidate to help maintain and grow its interpretive & education program's webpages. This role involves analyzing and updating webpages to meet the needs of visitors and students at the Anchorage Alaska Public Lands Information Center. The position will also assist with afterschool programming, Boys & Girls Club programs, Library programs, education programs at the Center, special tabling events, and visitor services at the Visitor Center. The goal is to enhance the visitor and student experience and deepen the understanding of public lands.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communicator.
  • Must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger.
  • Must be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
  • Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior knowledge and experience in Alaska and Anchorage.
  • Motivated self-starter.
  • Possess a valid driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and update interpretive & education webpages to meet visitor and student needs.
  • Gather photographs, review curricula, and review education/interpretive loan materials.
  • Obtain information on primary topics of interest connected to Alaska public lands.
  • Diagnose, prepare, and create webpages.
  • Assist with afterschool programming.
  • Assist with Boys & Girls Club programs.
  • Assist with Library programs.
  • Assist with education programs at the Center.
  • Assist with special tabling events.
  • Assist with visitor services at the Visitor Center.
  • Assist with the creation of Education webpages.
  • Assist with the completion of educational kit development.

Benefits

  • $1,200/month housing stipend provided.
  • $350/week living allowance
