About The Position

The Education Instructor at Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County provides direct educational support, tutoring, and program assistance to help members ages 6–18 achieve academic success. The role guides members in their learning, fosters a positive learning environment, and supports educational programs aligned with the Club’s mission to help young people reach their full potential.

The position requires an Emergency First Aid & CPR Certificate. A high school diploma is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in education, Youth Development, or a related field is preferred. Experience working with children and youth in an educational or afterschool setting is required.

Requirements

• Emergency First Aid & CPR Certificate.
• High school diploma.
• Experience working with children and youth in an educational or afterschool setting.
• Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with students for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move educational materials and supplies weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to participate in physical activities, including outdoor recreation and movement-based learning.
• Adequate vision and hearing to supervise and interact with students effectively.
• Patience and emotional resilience to support students with diverse learning needs and behavioral challenges.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Ability to remain calm and effectively manage classroom disruptions or conflicts.
• High level of enthusiasm, energy, and passion for working with youth.

Responsibilities

• Provide homework help, tutoring, and academic enrichment activities for members.
• Assist in implementing literacy, numeracy, and STEM-based learning programs.
• Support students with different learning styles and needs, reinforcing positive study habits.
• Encourage member participation in academic programs and assist with project-based learning.
• Help organize and implement structured learning activities, ensuring they are engaging and effective.
• Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all members.
• Serve as a mentor and role model, encouraging positive attitudes toward learning.
• Support students in developing confidence, problem-solving skills, and academic independence.
• Assist in maintaining records of student progress and participation.
• Set up learning materials, manage supplies, and maintain an organized educational space.
